Welcome to Automotive East
I started in the automotive industry in 1996 as a trainee auto electrical engineer predominantly in aftermarket installations of vehicle security products and audio systems. Within three years of my employment I was a senior engineer of a national vehicle security company, having to adopt sales skills and training apprentice engineers. Having an ambition to build my own business offering my skills and knowledge I started a fully mobile car security company in 1999, offering car and van alarms/immobilisers to be fitted at your home or place of work. We became the biggest Toad security dealerships in the East of England, we specialised with the influx of Japanese imported cars and had contracts with all the large car dealerships within the region. As the vehicle security sector slowed after a few years I transitioned my business towards the communications industry which included the sales and installations of in-car Handsfree/Bluetooth kits and early style fleet tracking systems. We worked very closely with national companies who had contracts with O2 and Vodafone as a preferred installation company in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
In 2006 my company was contracted to carry out regional installations of the new emergency services communications systems called Airwave to the East of England ambulance service. This contract required intensive training, specialist tool and testing equipment and a full disclosure check. We successfully fulfilled this roll out of installations which was followed up with ongoing service work with the trust. Having built a professional relationship my company was given the contract to carry out audit and inspection installations in other regions throughout the UK which included the South east coast ambulance service, London ambulance service, North east England ambulance service and the Welsh ambulance service. We had great feedback from all the regions we worked in and completed each contract well within the agreed timescale. Between ongoing contracts my company spent time working alongside national vehicle tracking companies mainly within East of England and London. Having this time gave myself invaluable experience working on top end vehicles which most engineers would never experience. I have experience working on famous brands such as Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Porsche, I’ve also had in-depth training with McLaren at their workshop. Between 2010 and 2012 I invested in 24v and HGV product knowledge and testing equipment to give my company another level of auto electrical service. We have carried out installations for Cemex and Tarmac with safety camera systems and side scan left turn alarms. We still locally look after various HGV companies with ongoing telecommunications and camera systems. We have a great knowledge of all major HGV manufacturers and also tractors and plant machinery tracking devices.
Being based within Norfolk we focus upon installations within this area bringing a huge knowledge and background to a localised area. We have a good long standing working relationship with many big automotive dealerships within the region and also still carry out contracts for national telematics companies including Quartix, Fleetmatics and RAM. We are approved and recognised dealers for all Thatcham products including CAT5 and GHOST, Autowatch, SmarTrack, RAC and Vodafone, Cobra, Toad, Steelmate and BlackVue. Automotive East offers all of our customers the unique piece of mind that your vehicle or asset is in safe hands of an engineer with a vast experience carrying out many types of auto electrical upgrades. We do not carry out electrical repair or diagnostic work that we’ve not supplied or fitted. All of our work is to FCS1362 edition code of practice and comes with certification and a warranty.
